The West Essex Tribune's classified and display advertising departments and production department won a number of awards in the recent annual Better Newspaper contest sponsored by the New Jersey Press Association (NJPA).
In the classified advertising category, sales representatives Lori Fine and Ellen Harte won first place for overall Best Classified Section. Fine and artist Grisel Cardona took first place for Best Use of Small Space for their TNT Electric ad, and third place in the same category for an ad for Pannucci Paving.
In the retail (display) advertising division, sales representative Wendy Navin and artists Grisel Cardona and Karen Trachtenberg took first place for Best Single Ad, Black and White, 16-35.5 Inches for their George Press "Winning Moves" ad. Sales representative and artist Diane Driggs took third place in the same category for her West Orange Jewelers "Jewelry Lasts Forever" ad. Sales representative Nancy Katz Perlmutter, along with Cardona and Trachtenberg placed third in Best Single Ad, Black and White, larger than 31.5 Inches, for their ad for MCRC Physical Therapy/Pyramid Fitness. Navin, Cardona and Trachtenberg took third place for another George Press ad, "Time to Celebrate," in the Best Single Ad, Spot or Process Color, 31.5 Inches or Larger category. The three also took second place in Best Ad Campaign or Series, Black and White, Smaller than 31.5 Inches, for the Little Ones' fall advertising campaign. TheTribune's art and sales staff also received first place for Best Special Pages, Black and White, ROP, for its "Celebrate Livingston History" section, and second place in the same category for "Women in Business." They also took second place in Best Special Pages, Color, ROP, for the newspaper's "Breast Cancer Awareness" section.
