Sisters Joy and Grace Ming of Livingston have recently won several musical competitions, as well as performing at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, New York, on February 27. Violinist Joy Ming, a junior at Livingston High School, performed at the high school as the first place winner in the youth category of the fifth annual American-Asian Fine Arts Association. A second-time first place finisher, she was accompanied by her sister, Grace, on piano. More than 80 winners performed two recital concerts that day.

The elder Ming joined five other LHS students who passed the North Jersey Music Association's high school string audition at Mahwah High School on January 9 in performing in its 45th annual concert, held February 28 at Randolph High School. Also playing were tenth graders Kenneth Chan, on viola; Marcia Chen, on cello; and Penny Huang and Alan Sun, both on violin; and ninth grader Katherine Lee, on violin.
