Hockey Team Raises Funds for Cancer Research; Ties Millburn, 5-5, and Falls to West Orange, 4-3

In the first game of two this week, the Livingston High School ice hockey team wore lots of pink to raise awareness about breast cancer. The Lancers, which sponsored the Skate For the Cure at Codey Arena, wore pink laces in their skates and pink tape on their sticks but were unable to bring home a victory over Millburn on the special day. At the end of the game, the Lancers presented Susan G. Komen with a big check for $1,200.

"There was lots of hype during this game," said assistant captain Johnny Garfinkel.

The Lancers tied the game, 5-5, even after goaltender Brendan Flaherty and the team let up four goals early in the first period.
