East Hanover Man Is Charged with Assaulting Girlfriend

A 19 year old East Hanover man has been charged with assault in connection with an incident in the parking lot at the Panevino restaurant in Livingston.

A 9-1-1 call was received by Livingston police on July 8. The witness said that a blonde girl had been punched in the head and knocked to the ground by a white male with dark hair.

The suspect, later identified as Alexander Cardoso, 19, of East Hanover, told the witness to look away and threatened to stab the witness. According to the witness, who was not identified by Livingston police, Cardoso then picked up the screaming girl, who was later identified only as his girlfriend, a 17 year old girl from Florham Park, and forced her into his car.
