| Mental Attitude: Happiness Is... Looking Forward To Your Vacation. It takes more than a vacation to make people happy. Vacationers tend to be happier than non-vacationers in the time approaching their trip. However, once they return, there is little difference between the two groups' levels of happiness, unless the time off was very relaxing, in which case the slightly increased happiness was particularly noticeable in the first two weeks back. The effect wore off completely after eight weeks. Most vacationers return to work or other daily tasks and therefore fall straight back into their normal routine. Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Applied Research in Quality of Life Health Alert: US Drug Sales Spiral Out Of Control! Retail Prescription Dollar Sales 1997 ~ $93.8 billion 2000 ~ $145.6 billion 2007 ~ $287.6 billion 2008 ~ $291.5 billion IMS National Sales Perspectives, 2009 Diet: The Egg Myth. Researchers identified several different peptides in eggs that act as potent ACE inhibitors, which are drugs used to lower high blood pressure. This means eggs may actually lower your risk of heart disease, not raise it. Numerous studies have supported the finding that eggs have virtually nothing to do with raising your cholesterol. Eating eggs every day did not produce a negative effect on endothelial function (an aggregate measure of cardiac risk) or an increase in cholesterol levels. International Journal of Cardiology, 2009 Exercise: Fitness tips to help you start a workout program -- and stick with it. Use Multiple Muscle Groups. When you work more than one muscle group at a time and use full body movement as much as possible, it takes less time to do a thorough weight-training workout. Even better, using full-body movements, involving multiple muscle groups, burns many more calories in a short amount of time. Elaine Magee, MPH, RD Chiropractic: What Causes Back Pain? Although uncommon, infections and tumors can cause back pain. Infections can cause pain when they involve the vertebrae, a condition called osteomyelitis, or when they involve the discs cushioning the vertebrae, which is called discitis. Tumors are relatively rare causes of back pain. Occasionally, tumors begin in the back, but more often they appear in the back as a result of cancer that has spread from elsewhere in the body. WebMD Medical Reference Wellness/Prevention: Outnumbered! The human body contains 20 times more microbes than cells, no matter how often you wash your hands. Most of the microbes are harmless and as long as you maintain a strong immune system, your body should be able to fight off the harmful microbes.
