Went to see "Pirate Radio" last night. Cute movie and worth a view. But, what I came away with most is that nothing will ever (EVER!) match the mid-to-late 60's music scene. Those bands (and the kids listening) really knew how to have fun, make a statement and enjoy the bond created from listening to good rock (not the mostly* sissy-whiny songs and groups of the last couple of generations). I feel sorry for kids (not really) listening to music over the last twenty-five years! When they're at reunions and get-togethers in the future, are they gonna give each other the "dude, I loved that song nod" when they hear a "No Doubt, Mariah Carey, John Mayer, Beyonce or George Michael" (had to throw him in!) song? Correction....I DO feel sorry for them!
*There are a bunch of small, indie groups making great music. They get little airplay because they're primarily marketed and shared through internet downloads and small venue performances.
BTW...I think that George Michael (without back-up from his Wham bandmates) could easily kick wimpy, wussy, poofy-haired, "Your body is a Wonderland"-writing John Mayer in a cage fight. And finally, too all my Navigator dudes.....I humbly have to say that I loved "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go"!
